Maria-Elena Cheshire is an experienced senior Solicitor having been called to the Bar in 1989 and then transferring to become a Solicitor in 1992 in order to have greater client contact. Since that date, Maria-Elena has been a specialist criminal practitioner working as a defence lawyer in the UK for 12 years, 8 of which were at Slade Legal building up a successful criminal department.
Route to Slade Legal
Maria-Elena then emigrated to Western Australia with her family and became a Federal Prosecutor for 5 years. The call of defence work beckoned and Maria-Elena set up her own firm – Cheshire Legal – and defended for a further 5 years before returning to her roots, both to her home in the UK and to Slade Legal (previously known as Hodsons).
Maria-Elena feels that after 26 years as a Criminal Lawyer she needs a change and has welcomed the challenge of joining an experienced conveyancing team at Slade Legal.
