Karen Newman
Karen is an experienced specialist family solicitor, collaborative lawyer and accredited mediator.
Work and Clients
Karen throughout her career has worked exclusively in family law. Karen regularly advises clients on all aspects of relationship breakdown including divorce, separation, resolution of finances (including maintenance, property, pensions, and company matters) and the arrangements for children.
As well as expertise in negotiating and drafting consent orders and separation agreements. Karen also advises clients on pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, living together agreements and cohabitation separation agreements.
Karen advises on cases ranging from modest assets to those of complexity and higher value.
Karen is an active member of Resolution, a national organisation of family lawyers committed to resolving issues in a non-confrontational constructive child focused way. Karen was previously the secretary for Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Resolution.
Karen achieved a rare commendation for being an ‘outstanding candidate in each element of the scheme’ when she qualified as an Accredited Resolution specialist in private children and domestic abuse matters.
Karen is a trained collaborative lawyer, and for many years has been the co-pod liaison officer for the South Bucks East Berks Collaborative pod and is a member of the Resolutions Dispute Resolution Group. Karen collaborates in all areas of family law including financial disputes and child arrangements.
Karen is a registered and accredited Mediator with the Family Mediation Council and is an active member in her Mediation peer group. She mediates in all areas of family law with married and unmarried couples that are divorcing or separating and assists in mediation with finding workable solutions regarding the division of finances and property and the arrangements for children.
Karen frequently writes for publications.
Karen has provided training to charities such as Women’s Aid, various networking groups such as the Chamber of Commerce and to other lawyers at the local Collaborative pod group.
Karen has also been a guest speaker on local radio.
Karen uses her extensive experience and knowledge to guide clients through the options available to them.
