Sharleen McLernan
Sharleen is a Chartered Paralegal and proud to have been amongst the first to achieve this new professional status when it was introduced by CILEX earlier this year. This recognition is awarded to experienced paralegals who have been working at an advanced level for at least five years, and Sharleen was delighted to be formally recognised for the work she has been doing for many years.
She has spent nearly 30 years working in legal offices, with more than a decade specialising in private client work. Since 2022, Sharleen has been running her own caseloads as a fee earner under supervision, building strong relationships with clients, and guiding them through what can often feel like daunting processes.
Work and Clients
Sharleen helps clients with all aspects of private client work, including Wills (from simple to complex), Lasting Powers of Attorney, probate applications, and the administration of estates.
Earlier in her career, she worked in Civil Litigation and Family Law, but it was when she moved into private client work that she realised this was where she could really make a difference. Sharleen enjoys helping people at a time when they need both clear advice and a caring approach.
Clients often say they value her kindness, patience, and ability to explain things simply without legal jargon. She is particularly experienced at working with elderly clients and always takes the time to make sure families feel reassured that their wishes will be carried out.
Route to Slade Legal
Sharleen holds a BTEC Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Paralegal Studies and a BTEC National Diploma in Business & Finance (together equivalent to six A-levels). Achieving Chartered Paralegal status through the CILEX experience route has been a highlight of her career, and she looks forward to celebrating this formally at graduation later this year.
